Getting Started with ALA Council

I thought before I get into the business of Council, I would introduce myself and share a little bit about what I hope I can bring to Kansas as the Chapter Councilor.

In case you don’t know me I am the Public Services director at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library and have been with my library since 1991.  I grew up in metro Detroit, Michigan but moved here to attend graduate school at K-State.  I fell in love with Kansas and while I miss my family to the north have really never looked back.

I have been quite active with KLA over the years serving with PLS as well as was the Treasurer for KLA for two years.  Additionally, I served on the Kansas Library Association Educational Foundation (KLAEF). I loved working with all my wonderful library friends and I think we really did make a difference.

I am thrilled to be your new Councilor and am really looking forward being actively involved in the direction that ALA is taking.  I pride myself on my listening and consensus skills and hope to employ those in this role.
